No Josh Allen and ‘Most Newbies’ for Bills game this Friday

The Buffalo Bills will wrap up the 2022 preseason this Friday night when they take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. This will be the Bills’ only preseason game played on the road this season.

The Bills are on a 10-game preseason winning streak, but don’t expect to see players you normally see on the court for a regular season game, in Friday’s preseason finale.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced Wednesday morning that “most starters” won’t play the Panthers. That includes quarterback Josh Allen, who the Bills decided to rest.

This means Allen will have played a record during the preseason, having played a couple of records last preseason against the Green Bay Packers at home.

McDermott says this game will be about evaluating twos and threes on the depth chart. General manager Brandon Beane said Tuesday they’re likely in their 50s to determine the final roster, but they’re still undecided on a few spots, which will come down to the final preseason game against Carolina.

McDermott specifically mentioned offensive lineman Bobby Hart, who he said has “improved immensely.” Hart will be one of those players fighting to make Friday’s final 53-man roster.

The Bills placed guard Ike Boettger on Reserve/PUP, which means he will miss the first four weeks of the season but will not count towards the 53-man roster. That means the Bills are down to 80 players and must cut the roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Kickoff in Carolina will be at 7 p.m.
