In May, Herman led the Reynolds softball team to its first District 10 title in school history. From the District 10 regional final to the championship game, Herman threw 3 shutouts, going 25 straight innings without allowing a single run.

“It was pretty awesome. It was pretty cool to know that it was making history and it was my last year at Reynolds, so that was really cool, Herman said.

Last season, Herman pitched 19 games, recording 116 strikeouts and a 1.91 ERA. At bat, she hit .416 and hit four homers.

In addition to softball, Herman also threw the discus on the Raiders track team last spring. She placed 7th at the PIAA State Championships.

“It was a little crazy. I knew I had a chance to get on the podium this year after getting a bit choked up last year. I knew I had a chance and I trained all week after every playoff game on the track to go practice with my discus coach. I really wanted that this year,” Herman said.

Herman is also a three-year letter winner in golf and a four-year letter winner in basketball. Despite losing a softball and track and field season due to COVID-10, Herman graduated with 14 varsity letters, a school record.

“It’s pretty awesome. I really wanted to break the disc distance record this year too, but I couldn’t figure it out, but I knew I wanted to break something this year. So I was working really hard for it,” Herman said.

This fall, Herman will continue his softball career at Mount Union. She plans to specialize in physiotherapy or nursing.

“I chose this school mainly because I know the region. I know Alliance very well simply because that’s where my traveling softball team is based. I walk up and down State Street twice a week year round. So it’s very familiar,” Herman said.
