Kutztown High School recognized 11 student-athletes who pledged to play an NCAA sport while in college on the school’s signing day on May 24.
Sophia Arnold: cross country and athletics, Bard College

Sophia will compete in cross country and track and field competitions at Bard College. A participant in cross country and track and field for the past four years, she is a four-year varsity letter winner.
His athletic honors include captain of the Varsity Girls cross country team in his senior year; 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Cross Country County Qualifier; 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 District 3 Cross Country Qualifier; Honorable Mention from Cross Country Berks Division II in 2021; County Qualifier in Athletics in 2019, 2021 and 2022; District qualification in athletics in 2019, 2021 and 2022; District AA Qualifying Track Medalist as 4th in 4×800 in 2021; and Track and Field County All Star in 2019 and 2021.
Ryleigh will compete in tennis at Kutztown University. An honor roll student who competes in both tennis and softball, Ryleigh’s athletic honors are 2020 Berks County Playoff Tennis Double Qualifier, 2021 Softball Division IV Honorable Mention, 2019 Berks All Division Softball III Team for 2nd Base, Member of the 2019 District III Class 3A Softball Champion Team and winner of a four-year varsity letter in softball and tennis.
Dylan will participate in football at Calumet College in St. Joseph. A two-time Brandywine Heights varsity letter winner in football, Dylan played left guard, outside linebacker, fullback and defensive tackle for Kutztown. His football honors include All-Academic Berks Football for the past two years and Most Improved Player of the 2021 football season. At Brandywine, he competed on the track team.
Grant is continuing his baseball career at Alvernia University. An honor roll student, high school athletic trainee, and unified bocce ball volunteer, he also plays for the Kutztown Legion baseball and Blue Rocks travel baseball teams.
A four-time varsity baseball letter winner, his honors include a member of the 2019 District III Class 2A Baseball Champion Team, 2022 All Berks Conference Team, and All-Division All-Division Team. baseball 2021. A three-time varsity letter winner in basketball, served as basketball captain his senior year and all-division basketball honorable mention team his senior year. He has received the Ron Perry Memorial Umpire Scholarship, the Randall C. Miller Award, the Ron Drunkenmiller Memorial Award, and the Charles Eckert Memorial Varsity Basketball Award.
Xavier will compete in basketball at Northampton Community College. Winner of a varsity letter in basketball his junior and senior years and in athletics his junior year, his honors include Basketball MVP junior, Top 10 Berks Scoring Leaders junior and senior, Boys Basketball All Division III Team junior year, Track and Field Qualifier of county and district for the junior year and the senior year for the Division 4 men’s basketball team.
Jack continues his career in cross country and track and field at the Citadel, Military College of South Carolina. A student on the honor roll during all four years at Kutztown, his athletic honors include four-year varsity letter winner in cross country, two-time BCIAA All-Berks Cross Country Team, 2021 All Berks Cross Country (5th place medal), two-time PIAA District 3 Individual Cross Country Medalist (9th of his senior year), member of the Team Cross Country Championship Team 2019 PIAA District 3, two-time PIAA Cross Country Singles A State Meet Qualifier, three-year varsity letter winner in track and field, 2022 PIAA District 2A Medalist in the 3200 meters (6th) , 2021 BCIAA All-Division Team for the 3,200 meters, 2021 PIAA 2A District Medalist in the 3,200 meters, cross country team captain and track and field team captain his senior year. He received the Tim Trout Award.
Lennon will participate in football at Kutztown University. An honor roll student who has completed four AP courses, he is a four-year varsity winner in football and a three-year varsity winner in track and field, as well as a varsity letter in his freshman year wrestling. His honors include the All-Academic Berks football team his sophomore, junior, and senior years; 2021 All Berks Division 2 First Team Offense and Running Back; 2021 All Berks Division 2 Second Team Defense and Linebacker; 2020 All Berks Division 2 Second Team Running Back and Linebacker; 2019 All Berks Division 2 Second Team Defensive Back; 2019 All Berks Honorable Mention Defense; and Team MVP his junior year.
Emma will continue her rifle career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A four-year varsity letter winner in rifle, she holds the NRA national team record along with three other teammates on her club team. Her honors include 2022 4th Place in Air Rifle and 9th Place in Small Arms at the State HS Meet, 2021 State Interscholastic High School Air Rifle Champion, 2021 Junior Olympic State Air Rifle Champion, 2020 and 2021 Women’s State Prone Champion, 2021 in 3rd place at the Olympic Junior Women’s Small Arms State Championship, 2021 in 2nd place at the Virtual CMP 3-Position National Air Rifle Championship, 2021 in 1st place at the NRA Small Arms Sectional Championships 3 Position, 2021 NRA Championships 3 Position Small Bore Section National Championship 2nd Place, 2020 State Interscholastic High School 3 Position Smallbore Champion and 2020 Junior State Prone Champion. She qualified for the USA Shooting National Junior Olympics for six consecutive years.
Olivia will compete in field hockey at Cedar Crest College. An honor roll and honor roll student, she is a four-year varsity letter winner in field hockey, as well as two varsity letters in softball and one in track and field her senior year. His honors include All Berks Division IV team in field hockey his senior year, Division 3 honorable mention in field hockey his junior year, captain of the field hockey team his senior year, member of the champion team 2019 District 3 Softball Championship, County and District Athletics Qualifier in his senior year and competed in the Penn Relays in his senior year. She received the MaryAnne “Bieb” Bieber Hartline Memorial Scholarship for field hockey.
Gunnar will participate in both football and basketball at Alvernia University. The recipient of a three-year varsity letter in football at Kutztown and a three-year varsity letter for basketball at Brandywine, Gunnar is an honor roll student at Brandywine Heights. His honors include most improved freshman football player his sophomore year; All-Berks Division 2 Second Team Offensive Lineman his freshman year; All-Berks Division 2 Second Team Offense Offense its senior year; All-Berks Division 2 Second Team Defensive Line his senior year; Honorable Mention All-Berks for his first year as a guard; team leadership award for his junior and senior years; two-year captain; All divisions and honorable mention; and All-Academic Berks Football Team his sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Max will participate in football at Penn State Greater Allegheny. A high honor roll student for all four years of high school, he earned a three-year varsity letter in football with varsity letters in volleyball his sophomore year and baseball his senior year. He was on Berk’s top players to watch list for two years.
