An international welly throwing competition will take place at the Ayrshire Festival


The organizers of the Monkton Jubilee Gala Day have announced a list of events that will take place in the run-up to the showpiece event on Saturday June 11.

On Monday, June 6, the contest for the best decorated house in the village will be judged by students from Monkton Primary School.

And the next day, Tuesday, June 7, will be the Primary Monkton sports day, followed at 3:30 p.m. by sports activities for parents and children on the playgrounds, drinks and snacks will be offered.

Then, on Wednesday, June 8, the Monkton International Welly Throwing Competition will take place on the playing field.

This event is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. and is sponsored by Semex.

There are also a variety of prizes to be won.

On Thursday, June 9, an orientation scavenger hunt will begin at 6:30 p.m. from the cross with prizes. Everyone is invited to join in and participate.

And on Saturday, June 11, it’s The Monkton Jubilee Gala Day main event.

The Gala Parade begins at 12.30pm from the top of the main street and there will be a marching band, fun characters, as well as the traditional appearances of the Gala Queen and King.

Costumes are optional, but there are prizes for the best of the day.

The parade ends at the playgrounds for an afternoon of family fun.

In addition, the Best Dressed Pet contest takes place, the Tug of War, Beat The Goalie, Horseshoe Throwing and much more.

Spirit Aerosystems will lead experimentation workshops in the school.

There is also a refreshment village with beer, burgers and ice cream.
